The process used to export songs from each title is a little bit different in each case, so here’s the detailed process you need to follow to export songs from each title on every available platform:
Exporting Songs from the original
Rock Band (Xbox 360/PlayStation®3)*:
- Load up Rock Band and select "Options" from the Main Menu.
- Select "Export Songs."
If you have not purchased a license to export the songs, you'll see a prompt to "Purchase License."
- You'll need to purchase and download the Rock Band Song Export Key to export your Rock Band tracks.
- Once the download completes, select Continue. On Xbox 360, you’ll need to determine where you'd like to save your exported songs.
- In a few minutes, the exporting process will be complete.
*Please note that the following songs from the original
Rock Band cannot be exported into any other titles:
- "Enter Sandman" by Metallica
- "Paranoid" as made famous by Black Sabbath
- "Run to the Hills" as made famous by Iron Maiden
- "Monsoon" by Tokio Hotel (from the European version of Rock Band)
*Please also note that the following songs from the original Rock Band cannot be exported into
Rock Band 3:
- "Black Hole Sun" by Soundgarden
- "Dani California" by Red Hot Chili Peppers
- "Hier Kommt Alex" by Die Toten Hosen (from the European version of Rock Band)
- "Rock 'n' Roll Star" by Oasis (from the European version of Rock Band)
- Note: the above two songs, while available as DLC, are not available for play in Rock Band 3. For more information, see our statement in the Rock Band forums.
Exporting Songs from Rock Band 2 (Xbox 360)*:
- Load up Rock Band 3.
- Select “Get More Songs” from the Main Menu of Rock Band 3.
- Select “Redeem Code.”
- Enter the code that appears on the back of your Rock Band 2 manual.(Note: This may be the same code that you used to get the “Bonus Downloadable Tracks.”)
- NOTE: International players should enter the first 16 digits of their code directly into their console.
- Choose “Rock Band 2 Export Pack” on the next screen and confirm your purchase (800 MSFT Points). The Rock Band 2 songs will then be exported to your console and available for play in Rock Band 3.
Exporting Songs from Rock Band 2 (PlayStation®3)*:
- Visit www.rockband.com/ps3-export. International users should visit rockband.com/ps3-export/intl.
- Enter the code from the back of your Rock Band 2 manual where prompted. (Note: This will be the same code that you used to get the “Bonus Downloadable Tracks,” but the web address is different.
- Copy down the code given to you from the website for use in Rock Band 3.
- Load up Rock Band 3.
- Select “Get More Songs” from the Main Menu of Rock Band 3.
- Select “Redeem Code.”
- Enter the code that you received from the website.
- Choose “Rock Band 2 Export Pack” on the next screen and confirm your purchase ($9.99). The Rock Band 2 songs will then be exported to your console and available for play in Rock Band 3.
Exporting Songs from
Rock Band 2 (Wii)*:
- When you load up Rock Band 3 on your Wii console, the game will automatically look for Rock Band 2 saved data.
- If Rock Band 2 saved data is detected, the token will pop up in “Previously Redeemed Codes.”
- To export these tracks, go to “Get More Songs” from the Main Menu of Rock Band 3.
- Select “Redeem Code.”
- Select “Previously Redeemed Codes.”
- Select the “Rock Band 2 Export Pack” (costs 1,000 Wii Points).
- NOTE: International players should enter the first 16 digits of their code directly into their console.
Note that on the Wii, you can select which specific tracks you want to export into Rock Band 3. Also note that downloading exported songs on the Wii may take up to several minutes per song.
*Please note that the following songs from
Rock Band 2 cannot be exported into any other titles:
- "Let There Be Rock" by AC/DC
- "Any Way You Want It" by Journey
- "Battery" by Metallica
- "Give It Away” by Red Hot Chili Peppers
- “Spoonman” by Soundgarden
- 9 Harmonix band songs, planned as free DLC in the very near future.
Exporting Songs from a Track Pack (
Rock Band Track Pack Volume I,
Rock Band Track Pack Volume 2,
Rock Band Country Track Pack,

- On the Xbox 360 Dashboard, go to “My Xbox” and go to your account.
- Select “Manage Account.”
- Select “Redeem Code.”
- Enter the code from the insert that came with your Track Pack copy.

- Same process as above, except that you don’t need to pay the $10 export fee.
- You can also redeem the token to import six additional tracks in the same "Export" menu.

- Load your copy of Rock Band 3.
- Select “Get More Songs” from the Main Menu.
- Select “Redeem Code.”
- Select “Redeem Code” on the subsequent screen.
- Enter the 16 digit code on the back of the manual that came with your copy of Green Day: Rock Band.

- Go to "Extras" in the Main Menu.

- Note: if you’ve redeemed your export token via the cross media bar (XMB), look through the Rock Band store and downloadable content purchases to find the export pack.
Green Day: Rock Band PLUS version:
- Go to the cross media bar (XMB) to redeem your free export – easy!
- Here you can also enter any code that your retailer may have given you for use with a preorder promotion.
Exporting using
Rock Band 3:
- Load your copy of Rock Band 3.
- Select “Get More Songs” from the Main Menu.
- Select “Redeem Code.”
- Select “Redeem Code” on the subsequent screen.
- Enter the 12 digit code on the back of the manual that came with your copy of Green Day: Rock Band.

- Load your copy of Rock Band 3.
- Select “Get More Songs” from the Main Menu.

- Select “Redeem Code” on the subsequent screen.
- Enter the 16 digit code on the back of the manual that came with your copy of Green Day: Rock Band.
- All tracks will appear in the “Previously Redeemed Codes” menu.
Note that on the Wii, you can select which specific tracks you want to export into
Rock Band 3. Also note that downloading exported songs on the Wii may take up to several minutes per song. Finally, note that
Green Day: Rock Band tracks on Wii are only playable in
Rock Band 3 and are not playable in
Rock Band 2.
